Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McFarlane worked for over two years as a public defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where she tried several misdemeanor cases and handled numerous felony preliminary hearings. During that time, she became a mentor to new misdemeanor attorneys on trial practice and procedure. Ms. McFarlane also worked as a Legal Research Assistant at the ACLU of Arizona, where she assisted with legislative issues and police accountability cases.
Ms. McFarlane received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she competed on the university mock trial team for several years. She went on to attend law school at Arizona State University and graduated cum laude in 2021. Ms. McFarlane competed on the law school mock trial team as the closer in national tournaments. While still in law school, she was recruited to coach the undergraduate mock trial team at ASU, where she managed and trained a team of students on trial advocacy skills, trial procedure, and the evidence code.
